Anchoring Within: Trauma recovery group therapy

You don’t have to carry this alone. Join a small online group where your experiences are respected and understood.

What is trauma recovery group therapy?

Anchoring Within is a small, online therapy group designed to help you gently reconnect with yourself, understand your nervous system, and learn practical tools to manage trauma and dissociation.

You won’t be asked to retell traumatic stories or pushed to share anything before you’re ready. Instead, we focus on safety, co-regulation, and building your capacity to cope together at your pace.

Rooted in the Finding Solid Ground protocol, this group weaves together trauma-informed support and psychoeducation in a way that’s both validating and empowering.

Who it’s for

This group is especially helpful if you:

  • Experience dissociation (feeling numb, spacey, disconnected)
  • Struggle with overwhelm, anxiety, shutdown, or emotional flashbacks
  • Feel isolated in your experience and long to feel understood without having to explain everything
  • Have found individual therapy too intense, too expensive, or just not quite the right fit
  • Are looking to feel steadier, more present, and more in control of your day to day life

You might be outwardly functioning but inwardly exhausted.

You might want support that doesn’t ask you to pour out your story but helps you feel less alone and more anchored.

If that sounds familiar this might be the space you’ve been looking for.

How it works

Six people max. That’s it. Small enough to feel safe and spacious, not like you’re getting lost in a crowd.

Fortnightly 2 hour sessions online £80 per session.

Facilitated by me, Lynda, a trauma therapist with extensive experience supporting highly dissociative clients.

Based on the TOP DD “Finding Solid Ground” protocol which blends grounding tools, nervous system education, and emotional regulation strategies in a carefully paced evidence based structure.

The group runs as a closed group once we start, no new members join. That helps create predictability, trust, and a sense of shared journey.

What to expect

You’ll learn to:

  • Recognise what’s happening in your nervous system and why it’s not your fault
  • Use practical grounding tools and self regulation strategies in real life
  • Understand trauma responses as survival strategies not flaws
  • Build internal and external safety so you can start showing up for life more fully

Some people talk a lot. Some people barely speak for the first few sessions. Both are welcome.

Sharing is always optional. Listening is powerful too.

This isn’t about fixing you. It’s about creating a space where you can feel a bit more steady, a bit more connected and maybe eventually a bit more hopeful.

Reassurance & accessibility

I get that group therapy can feel scary, so here’s what you should know:

  • You won’t be pushed to share anything before you're ready. Participation is always by choice.
  • This isn’t about reliving trauma. We don’t do detailed storytelling.
  • We focus on the here and now: safety, presence, and practical tools.
  • The group is facilitated gently with care for pacing and overwhelm.
  • There’s always permission to pause, take a break or just observe.
  • Dissociation is understood not judged. You’ll learn ways to manage it with kindness not shame.
  • The group is inclusive and anti-oppressive. All identities are welcomed and respected. Diversity isn’t just accepted here, it's essential.
  • There’s an introductory call and assessment to ensure the group is the right fit for you. That way you’re not stepping into the unknown.

How this differs from other therapy

This group isn’t about endless talking or sitting in silence while someone nods at you.

It’s interactive, structured and rooted in real tangible change without being overwhelming.

Many clients have felt failed or harmed by previous therapy experiences especially those from marginalised communities.

I work hard to create a space that’s inclusive, boundaried and emotionally safe. One where you can just be as you are.

Any questions I've not covered? Click the button below to get in touch.

Get in touch
  • What if I don’t want to talk in the group?

That’s completely fine. There’s no pressure to speak. Your presence is enough. Listening can be healing too.

  • What if I feel like I’m not traumatised enough to be here?

There’s no trauma Olympics. If you’re struggling you belong. Full stop.

  • What if I’ve had a bad experience with group therapy before?

You’re not alone in that. This group is intentionally small, structured and held with care. Trust takes time and we go at your pace

  • What if I dissociate during sessions?

It’s okay. Dissociation is part of trauma. We talk about it and you’ll learn ways to gently support yourself through it.
